Book ConsultationWhat are Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetics custom-made to replace missing teeth. They restore your ability to chew and speak naturally, while supporting the natural shape of your face.
- Full Dentures
- For patients who have lost all teeth in an arch. The denture rests on the gum and is shaped to look completely natural.
- Partial Dentures
- For patients who still have some natural teeth. The prosthetic fills in the gaps and prevents remaining teeth from shifting.

What are Overdentures / Implant-Supported Dentures?
Overdentures — also referred to as implant-supported dentures or a denture with implants — are a more advanced solution. All three terms describe the same treatment: a denture that is supported by dental implants placed in your jawbone, giving you the look and feel of dentures with significantly better stability than a conventional denture resting on the gums alone.
Overdentures snap, clip, or screw onto implants instead of resting on the gums alone.
Improved chewing efficiency compared with a conventional denture.
The implants stimulate your jawbone the same way natural tooth roots do.
Most overdentures are anchored with 2 to 4 implants per arch, using ball or bar attachments.
Your dentist will determine the exact number of implants based on your bone volume and stability needs at consultation. If you’re missing most or all of your teeth and want a fixed (non-removable) solution instead, you may also want to compare this against All-on-4 fixed dental implants.

A denture is a removable prosthetic that replaces missing teeth. An overdenture — also called an implant-supported denture or denture with implants — is the same idea, but clips onto dental implants in your jawbone instead of resting on your gums alone, giving significantly better stability and chewing function. Meiplus Dentalcare offers full dentures, partial dentures, and implant-supported overdentures at our Tanjong Pagar and Marine Parade clinics, and is CHAS, Merdeka Generation, and Pioneer Generation accredited.
Missing teeth affect more than just your smile. They impact how you eat, speak, and feel. At Meiplus Dentalcare, we offer custom-fitted dentures and implant-supported overdentures to help you restore full function and confidence.

Full (complete) dentures typically range from $1,200 to $2,000 per arch at Meiplus Dentalcare. Partial dentures range from $750 to $850 per arch. Implant-supported overdentures start from $8,000, due to the surgical placement of implants — see the pricing table above. Prices are estimates, subject to prevailing GST, and finalised after consultation with your dentist.
Are there subsidies for dentures in Singapore?+
Yes, you can get subsidies for dentures in Singapore. The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) offers help at participating dental clinics. CHAS Blue, Orange, Pioneer Generation (PG), and Merdeka Generation (MG) cardholders can benefit. Pioneer Generation cardholders may receive up to SGD $418.50 per arch off a complete denture, with lower amounts for partial dentures and denture relines or repairs. Your dentist will check if you meet the rules for each procedure — see the full subsidy table above for a breakdown by scheme.
What is the difference between dentures and overdentures?+
Conventional dentures rest on the gums alone and are held in place by suction and the shape of your mouth. Overdentures — also called implant-supported dentures or dentures with implants — clip onto dental implants placed in your jawbone, which stops them from slipping and improves chewing stability significantly compared to conventional dentures.
Is a “denture with implants” the same as an overdenture?+
Yes. “Denture with implants,” “implant-supported denture,” and “overdenture” all describe the same treatment: a removable denture that attaches to dental implants for extra stability, rather than resting on the gums alone.
How is an implant-supported denture different from All-on-4?+
Both use dental implants, but an implant-supported overdenture is still removable — you can take it out for cleaning. All-on-4 is a fixed, non-removable full-arch restoration permanently attached to four implants. Overdentures are generally more affordable; All-on-4 offers a more permanent, denture-free feel. Your dentist can help you weigh both options based on your bone volume, budget, and preference.
How many implants do I need for an overdenture?+
Most implant-supported overdentures use 2 to 4 implants per arch, depending on the attachment system (ball or bar) and your bone density. Your dentist will confirm the right number for you after a 3D CBCT scan and consultation.
Are dentures covered by CHAS or MediSave in Singapore?+
Conventional dentures are not MediSave claimable, as they are not a surgical procedure, but CHAS, Pioneer Generation, and Merdeka Generation cardholders may be eligible for subsidies — see the subsidy table above for exact amounts by scheme and denture type. Implant-supported overdentures include a surgical implant placement component, which may be separately MediSave claimable — your dentist will confirm your eligibility and exact claimable amount at consultation.
How long do dentures last in Singapore?+
With proper care, conventional dentures typically last 5 to 10 years before needing replacement or relining due to normal wear and changes in your jawbone shape. Implant-supported overdentures tend to last longer and provide more stable, consistent fit over time since the implants anchor them securely.
Can I eat normally with dentures?+
Yes, most patients adapt to eating with dentures within a few weeks, starting with softer foods and gradually returning to a normal diet. Implant-supported overdentures generally offer better chewing stability and confidence with harder foods compared to conventional dentures, since they don’t shift while chewing.
How do I care for my dentures?+
Clean your dentures daily with a soft brush and denture-specific cleaner (not regular toothpaste, which can be abrasive), remove them at night to let your gums rest, and store them in water or denture solution when not worn. Attend regular check-ups so your dentist can monitor fit and gum health over time.
Are partial dentures or full dentures right for me?+
Partial dentures are suitable if you still have healthy natural teeth remaining, filling in gaps and preventing those teeth from shifting. Full dentures are for patients who have lost all teeth in an arch. Your dentist will assess your remaining teeth and gum health during consultation to recommend the right option.
What is the process for getting dentures at Meiplus Dentalcare?+
Treatment starts with a detailed consultation including OPG and CBCT scans to assess bone density and determine the best option for you. We then use digital dental technology to custom-design your dentures for the most natural fit and appearance, followed by ongoing follow-up appointments to ensure comfort and function over time.
How long does it take to get dentures in Singapore?+
Conventional dentures typically take a few weeks from consultation to final fitting, depending on the number of appointments needed for measurements and adjustments. Implant-supported overdentures take longer, as they require a healing period of 3 to 6 months after implant placement before the final denture is fitted.
Is it painful to wear dentures?+
New dentures can feel unusual and cause mild discomfort or soreness as your mouth adjusts, typically improving within a few weeks. Persistent pain or sore spots should be checked by your dentist, as it usually means the denture needs a minor adjustment for a better fit.
